Hello everyone and welcome back! After a much too long hiatus, I decided to get back to what I love most, which is writing and providing content. Sometimes life gets in the way of your dreams but, Horses and Hermès is back in business. Speaking of businesses, I would love to share with you a brand-new small business that I discovered called, Skinbydylll. Dylan Campbell is the proud owner of this makeup artistry and esthetics business that offers multiple services for its clients. I recently had the pleasure of getting my makeup professionally applied by Dylan and was beyond impressed. I knew I had to sit down with Dylan and get the inside scoop on his burgeoning new business and plans for the future.

Hi Dylan! It's wonderful to talk to you. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your small business, Skinbydylll?
"Hi, I am so honored to have the chance to tell you about myself and Skinbydylll. I grew up in small town Iowa and still currently live here. I graduated from high school in 2020, I was very excited to graduate and start my future in the makeup and skin care industry. I’ve shown horses since I was 2 years old and I started out showing a pony. Then,I eventually started showing AQHA when I was 8 years old. I had a very successful youth career showing the All-Around events with my horse “The Big Bay Theory” Throughout my youth career, I had A LOT of people inquire and show interest in me applying makeup at shows. After some thought and encouragement from family and friends, I started going to shows to apply makeup. Gradually, that all turned into Skinbydylll and from there I ran with it and never looked back! I started traveling to shows to do makeup in 2020 since then I have applied makeup at all the major championship shows including: the AQHYA World Show, NSBA World Show and the AQHA World Show and many circuit shows around the Midwest. I currently attend Xenon Academy in Omaha, NE and I'm studying to become an Esthetician. So throughout my recent journey with doing makeup, I really noticed my skill for improving people's skin, because with good makeup, comes with good skin. I love encouraging people to take care of their skin and how to go about doing so with the right products and treatments."
What sparked your passion for skin care and makeup artistry?
"My passion for skincare and makeup started with me watching people on YouTube doing makeup looks and skincare videos. From there on, I started practicing makeup on myself and with trial on error found skincare was what best suited me. I have a great support system behind me so with a lot of encouragement I really took off with this passion of mine. "
What makes the equine industry a unique marketplace for someone skilled in skin care and makeup artistry?
"The equine industry has been an AMAZING start for my business. I've always said “That when you feel and look good, you show well.” So, I’ve gotten a lot of opportunity with people wanting me to apply their makeup at the shows. I also think a lot of people appreciate someone like myself, that really focuses on making people feel pretty in their own skin, with the help of enhancing their natural features. Many clients have shown their appreciation by spreading the word of what I do. Through word of mouth, it has created a need for many people looking to have me apply makeup for them. "
Where do you envision yourself and your business in a year?
"I see myself in the next year working in a spa offering my esthetics services. However, I also want to travel a lot more to shows to apply makeup and eventually offer my esthetic services at shows as well. I definitely plan on continuing my education in this industry, as I love to learn and see what other new techniques I can incorporate into my services. I really see my future taking off in the next few years. It really would be ideal if I could own my own spa and have a working staff, who show as much passion for the beauty industry as I do. I also think moving to a bigger city would allow me, as a business owner, to grow and evolve more. Also, there is a greater need in larger cities for the services I would like to offer."
